About SCOI
SCOI builds the operational backbone for products that need to survive contact with real users and real money — not just working prototypes. Where most teams stop at a working demo, we build the infrastructure that keeps a product running when things go wrong: idempotent payment flows, immutable ledgers, tenant isolation, retry logic, audit trails, and reconciliation systems.
Our portfolio spans telco gaming (Direct Carrier Billing across three Indonesian operators, ~260K registered users), legal-tech SaaS with domain-specific RAG pipelines, multi-tenant IoT platforms processing 100M+ data points, workforce management systems, and connected hardware platforms — ten products across seven domains, all built on the same underlying discipline.
We're a small, senior team. You'll ship production systems, not tickets.
The role
We're hiring a Senior Full Stack Developer to work directly with the founder, take ownership of client and product engineering, and eventually help lead a small development team. This is a builder-first role in a startup environment — you'll move between hands-on coding, architecture decisions, and mentoring junior developers.
You'll report directly to the Founder.
What you’ll do
- Design and build full-stack features end-to-end across our Next.js/React frontends and Node.js/NestJS backends
- Architect systems with production concerns baked in from day one — auth, data integrity, retries, observability — not bolted on later
- Work across SQL and NoSQL data stores, making sound tradeoffs on schema design and data modeling
- Contribute to infrastructure and deployment decisions (AWS, CI/CD, basic DevOps hygiene)
- Review code, set technical standards, and mentor junior developers as the team grows
- Work in an agile setup — sprint planning, estimation, and keeping delivery honest with the founder and clients
- Use AI coding tools as part of your daily workflow to build faster without cutting corners on quality
- Build AI-integrated features where relevant — LLM API calls, RAG pipelines, and similar — with the same production discipline applied to any other system
- Take partial ownership of a product or client engagement, not just assigned tasks
Must-have skills
| Area | Expectation |
|---|---|
| Frontend | Strong hands-on experience with Next.js and React.js — App Router, SSR/SSG, performance patterns |
| Backend | Solid Node.js experience; working knowledge of NestJS (basic understanding acceptable, willingness to go deeper expected) |
| Databases | Comfortable working with both SQL (Postgres/MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB or similar) — schema design, indexing, query performance |
| Infra / DevOps | Practical understanding of AWS basics (EC2, S3, RDS or equivalent), CI/CD pipelines, environment management |
| Version control | Strong Git/GitHub workflow — branching strategy, PR discipline, code review habits |
| AI-assisted development | Practical, daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) to speed up development — not just autocomplete, but using them for scaffolding, debugging, and code review |
| Experience | ~5 years of full-stack development, with at least some of it in startup or small-team environments |
Good to have
- Exposure to agile/scrum practices and comfort with sprint-based delivery
- Prior experience leading or mentoring 1–2 junior developers
- Experience with payment integrations, webhooks, or systems requiring idempotency and retry logic
- Familiarity with multi-tenant SaaS architecture
- Basic understanding of message queues / background job systems (BullMQ, SQS, etc.)
- Exposure to monitoring/observability tooling (logs, alerts, dashboards)
- Experience building products with AI integrated into the product itself — LLM API integrations, RAG pipelines, prompt engineering, or embedding-based search
- Understanding of AI-related engineering concerns: token/cost management, latency handling, fallback behavior when AI calls fail, and evaluating output quality
What we’re really looking for
Beyond the checklist:
Own outcomes, not just code
Think about what breaks in production, not just what compiles.
Talk to clients when needed
This isn't a role behind three layers of management.
Make judgment calls independently
Startup pace means you won't always have someone to ask.
Care about the boring stuff
Reconciliation jobs, error handling, audit logs — that's where SCOI's actual value lives.
Be comfortable with ambiguity
Requirements will change, and you'll help shape them, not just receive them.
Show leadership instincts
Even without a formal team yet, you should be someone others would want to learn from.
What we offer
- Direct access to the founder and real influence over technical direction — not a cog-in-a-machine role
- Ownership across the full product lifecycle, not siloed tickets
- Exposure to a genuinely varied portfolio (telco, legal-tech, IoT, hardware, workforce platforms)
- A growth path toward technical leadership as the team scales
- Hybrid work model based in Pune
Compensation: Open, based on experience — to be discussed.
